Advice from a tree

A colleague passed along this 'advice from a tree' image to me last week.

It made me wonder... what advice would our Smart on Crime tree give?

Here's some more 'tree advice' from Rishia Burke:
*"Say Hi", extend our "branches" with a helping hand...reach out...understand and make a change!

Good one Rishia!

Grip the ground firmly, look at the horizon, keep your ears open for changes in weather and lean into the wind so you dont lose yourdirection. And be kind to the song birds that nest or rest in your branches. :-)

Change is necessary.

Here are a few pieces of 'advice' that came in through Twitter & Facebook:

* Take good care of your seedlings! - Lutherwood

* Prevent, reduce, end poverty - Opportunties Waterloo Region

Thanks for the additions! Keep them coming!

Be patient and steadfast in building your "Smart on Crime" movement. I didn't get this big overnight...but I DID get this big!

A very encouraging piece of advice - thanks for the reminder John!

Let go of the old and make way for new growth.

Focus on developing a strong root system, if you do this the rest will take care of itself.

As the winds, storms and seasons take away the leaves that shade others remember that they will come again. Life is about renewal. Trees help to purify our air and our spirits just by being. In all of this they remain steadfast and only show their pride once a year as they burst forth in colour and energy just before going to sleep. Kind of like putting a 3 year old to bed each night.

We could learn a lesson or two from trees. Remain steadfast in our work and not be swayed by every wind that blows. Provide cover to those who need it most, beautify the areas in which we live and from time to time, simply rest in place.

I like it Frank, flexible, but strong. Oh so strong.
